More About This Course

Description This continuing education course on slips and setbacks is set in the context of the theory of change with components of motivational interviewing woven throughout. Although course material will be relevant to substance recovery, the material will also apply to a broader clientele. We will explore psychological aspects of slips and setbacks such as self-concept and shame. We will also look at and practice practical tools for managing triggers and getting back on track through the lens of self-compassion. Objectives After completing this course participants will be able to: Name the different stages of Change Theory Recognize psychological components of slips and setbacks Help clients identify and practice healthy coping strategies to enhance resilience Collaborate with clients to create slip/setback response plans
